Ambua
Ambua
is located west of Mt Hagen (near Tari) and is about 7000 ft above sea level.
The new airstrip is quite steep and we normally fly into it using Bobs Islander.
With extensions under way, we may be able to fly our own planes this year? (See
note from Bob below)
"I am about to start on upgrading Ambua
airstrip. The new details will be as follows...
Length 740 meters
Average grade 10% down to the west.
Enlarged parking bay at 6,200 ft on area QNH
Density altitude - Assume 8,000 feet
No climb out required. The tops of the
distant trees are the same elevation as the western threshold.
When it is finished I will start taking
the Baron in there. You might like to check it out for your aircraft. I'm
sure that there will be no problem landing...only in the take-off."
Should be finnished end of April.
