PNG TRIP 2004

Landed at Horn Island met the rest of the crew,

Toured Thursday Island then settled down for a beer or two,

Wake the next morning to an overcast sky,

Headed for Bensbach where the weather was dry,

Jumped on a boat and headed upstream,

Saw villages, gardens and country so green,

A site-seeing trip that took all day,

Some fished for Barra along the way,

We powered up our planes and tracked for Madang,

Arrival at Molola, met Simone and his gang,

We were bused to villages and started to learn,

Cultures and ways, some a concern,

The welcome at the Sepik now that something else,

So many people trying to take care of themselves,

Arts and crafts so clearly made,

Trades and things all displayed,

Ambua, I really liked that place,

Decorating the highlands with style and grace,

Now we’re all back here at Horn,

It’s back to Brisbane in the morn.
