This will give time to relax and meet Safari members before the Ferry to
Thursday Island.Transfer to Gateway Torres
Strait Resort at Horn Island.
2.30pm Ferry to Thursday Island for a
short tour.
3.00pm Transfer to Peddells Tours for a
historical tour of the Island. If you plan to be on Thursday Island before
the group transfer, please be at Peddells by 3.00pm (located on the wharf).
5.30pm Return to Horn Island Gateway
Resort for Buffet dinner and briefing presented by Bob Bates (Safari guide)
and Roger Merridew (Safety officer). Important aspects of tomorrows flying
and the days to follow will be discussed.

coastal cruise (or direct if you wish) to the PNG capital

visiting the Bomana War Cemetery in Port Moresby, followed by a beautiful
scenic drive to Sogeri Plateau 600m above sea level, taking in Rouna Falls,
the Laloki River, Variata National Park etc.

Half day tour of Lae including a picnic
lunch, seeing the sights at the botanical gardens, war cemetery, Mt Lunaman
Lookout and local markets. See the vines and creepers smothering huge trees
inhabited by brightly coloured and often noisy birds, as green geckos
scuttle through shrubs in this truly tropical setting.

surrounds, with a late Lunch at Malolo Plantation Lodge
Transfer to Malolo
Plantation Lodge. “Malolo” is pidgin for “rest and relaxation”. Nearby
villages are home to people living as they have for centuries, making
pottery, hunting & fishing, in amongst a luxuriant tropical rainforest full
of exotic plants, animals & bird species.

Plantation Lodge nestled amongst coconut palms on a beautiful black sand
beach, 42km north of Madang. Kar Kar Island across the bay fringed with
coral reef and crystal seas is home to an active volcano with a halo of
smoke.

secluded waterfalls and understanding how the Huli people utilise the abundant

of selected villages in the Great Tari Basin including lunch or stay back and
relax with magnificent mountain views. Tari is one of the few places left where
men and women can be seen wearing traditional dress made from the natural bush
materials as part of daily living. The flamboyant Huli Wigmen revere and
imitate the beautiful bird of paradise by decorating their human hair wigs with
the plumage of only the most beautiful birds.
